Floor Sanders

Floor sanders are used throughout the construction and home improvement industries and are incredibly powerful and effective types of sanders. A single pass over a hardwood floor is enough to remove even the most stubborn of varnishes, after which a low grit can smooth the wood to a healthy glow.

These tools experience a lot of wear due to their heavy workload and so user-maintenance and the occasional trip to a technician for servicing will most assuredly help in prolonging its lifespan.

Repairs commonly carried out by Ideal Tool include:

  • Overall equipment inspection.
  • Motor inspections, services and replacements.
  • Inspecting and replacing sanding belts.
  • Replacing worn-out motor brushes.

But you can help prevent both injuries and unnecessary repairs by following your manufacturer’s manual and these basic tips:

  • Dust Removal - Make sure your sander is hooked up to a dust bag or a dust removal pipe, to protect both your lungs and your sander from harmful dust.
  • Air Quality - When working with a floor sander, ensure that you’re wearing a protective breathing mask.
  • Noise – Wear noise-cancelling headphones to protect your ears from the incredible noise produced by a floor sander.
  • Maintenance - Always be sure to clean your sander after use, especially to remove dust and grit that may build up and cause unnecessary wear on moving parts.
  • Prepare - Prepare the wooden surfaces by removing any small obstacles, hammering in protruding nails, filling cracks with the appropriate putty and removing moldings.
  • Double Check - Confirm the correct fit whenever you attach new sandpaper to your equipment, as loose ones can quickly damage a tool’s mechanisms.
