Pressure Washers
Ideal For Dirty Jobs

We've all encountered tough cleaning challenges when good old fashioned elbow grease just doesn't cut it. That's when you toss the scrub brush and scraper aside and bring out your handy pressure washer. Sidewalks or siding, metal or wood, a pressure washer can reduce hours of hard work and produce excellent results in no time with a minimal amount of water and without the use of ecologically unfriendly chemicals. Knowing how a pressure washer works will make your job easier.

A Pressure Washer Has Many Components

Here is a very brief list of basic parts and functions:

  • Inlet – water source through a common garden hose, fitted with an inlet filter / screen to keep out fine dirt and debris.
  • Regulator valve – controls water flow and pressure into the pump.
  • Power pump – consists of a crankcase attached to the motor and manifold. It also includes a number of inlet valves, check valves and outlet valves, which, working together pushes out the pressurized water.
  • Outlet – pressurized water passes through the nozzle; the flow is controlled by the gun trigger. Guns and nozzles are the most commonly replaced parts.
  • Unloader valve – redirects water from the pump though an unloader hose and back into the power pump when the water is not exiting the system so that pressure in the pump is controlled.

Pressure Washers Are Notoriously Fussy

You expect that your pressure washer will be ready when you are to tackle the job at hand. We recommend you follow the manufacturer's suggestion on use, maintenance and troubleshooting of your pressure washer. Of course, when using any power tool, take care to exercise safety at all times.

Ideal Tool & Equipment Service recognizes that even the most diligent preventive maintenance on pressure washers is not always enough. Like every piece of equipment, parts wear and break. Pressure washers are no exception. In addition, everything must be working just right to get the best performance out of them. Problems are often difficult and time-consuming to diagnose and resolve. It's not unusual for one problem to exhibit the same or similar symptoms of one or two other problems. Indeed, finding what's wrong can be frustrating and tedious.

Sometimes the "fix" is as simple as cleaning a valve. However, when parts on your pressure washer fail, or you've exhausted your patience and just can't figure out what's wrong, turn to a professional for help. Ideal Tool is your source for prompt and complete parts replacement and service by technicians you can trust.
